And she lived under the palm tree of Deborah, between Ramah and Bethel, in the hills of Ephraim. And the sons of Israel went up to her for judgment.

And Deborah died, the nurse of Rebekah, and she was buried below Beth-el, under the oak. And he called its name, Oak of Weeping.

And it happened on the next day that Moses sat to judge the people. And the people stood beside Moses from the morning until the evening.

When they have a matter, they come to me, and I judge between a man and his neighbor. And I make known the statutes of God, and His laws.

Now listen to my voice. I will counsel you, and may God be with you. You be for this people before God, and you bring the matters to God.

And they judged the people at all times; the hard matters they brought to Moses, and every small matter they judged themselves.

So says Jehovah, A voice was heard in Ramah, wailing, bitter weeping: Rachel weeping over her sons; she refuses to be comforted for her sons, for they are not.

And it went from Bethel to Luz, and passed on to the border of the Archites, to Ataroth;

and Beth-arabah, and Zemaraim, and Bethel,

Gibeon, and Ramah, and Beeroth,

And Deborah the wife of Lapidoth, a woman prophetess, was judging Israel at that time.

And there was a certain man of Ramathaim-zophim from the hills of Ephraim, and his name was Elkanah, the son of Jeroham, the son of Elihu, the son of Tohu, the son of Zuph, an Ephrathite.

And they rose up early in the morning and worshiped before Jehovah. And they went back and came to their house in Ramah. And Elkanah knew his wife Hannah, and Jehovah remembered her.

And Saul heard that David and the men who were with him. had been seen, And Saul was staying in Gibeah under the tamarisk tree in Ramah, with his spear in his hand; and all his servants were standing by him.

And Samuel died, and all Israel was gathered, and mourned for him. And they buried him in his house, in Ramah. And David rose up and went down to the wilderness of Paran.

And he returned to Ramah, for his house was there. And there he judged Israel; and he built an altar to Jehovah there.
