And the people came to Bethel, and sat there before God until the evening. And they lifted up their voices and wept a great weeping.

And all the sons of Israel went up, even all the people, and came to Beth-el, and wept. And they sat there before Jehovah, and fasted on that day until the evening, and caused burnt offerings and peace offerings to ascend before Jehovah.

And among those living in Jabeshgilead they found four hundred young women, virgins, who had not known a man by lying with a male. And they brought them into the camp at Shiloh, which is in the land of Canaan.

And they said, O Jehovah, God of Israel, Why has this happened in Israel, to be lacking one tribe today from Israel?

And the messengers came to Gibeah of Saul. And they spoke the words in the ears of the people. And all the people lifted up their voice and wept.

And David and the people who were with him lifted up their voice and wept, until they had no power in them to weep.
