And the sons of Israel did not strike them, for the leaders of the congregation swore to them by Jehovah the God of Israel. And all the congregation murmured against the leaders.
But the king spared Jonathan’s son Mephibosheth the son of Saul because of the oath of Jehovah that was between them, between David and Jonathan, the son of Saul.
Do not be hurried with your mouth, and do not let your heart hurry to bring forth a word before God. For God is in Heaven, and you are on earth; on account of this, let your words be few.
Do not allow your mouth to cause your flesh to sin; do not say before the angel that it was an error. Why should God be angry over your voice, and destroy the work of your hands?
All that happens it is to all; one event to the righteous one, and to the wicked one; to the good one, and to the clean one, and to the unclean one; to him who sacrifices, and to him who does not sacrifice. As is the good one, so is the sinner; he who swears is as he that fears an oath.
That which has gone out of your lips, you shall keep, and shall do it. According as you have vowed as a free will offering to Jehovah your God, do even that which you have spoken with your mouth.
And the sons of Israel pulled up stakes and came to their cities on the third day. And their cities were Gibeon, and Chephirah, and Beeroth, and Kirjathjearim.
