And now, O Jehovah, please take my life from me. For better is my death than my life.

and he himself went into the wilderness a day’s journey, and came and sat under a certain broom tree. And he begged for his life, that he might die, and said, Enough, now, O Jehovah; take my life, for I am no better than my fathers.

A good name is better than good oil; and the day of death than the day of one’s birth.

But I have not used one of these. And I do not write these things that it be so in me. For it is good to me rather to die than that anyone nullify my glorying.
