And they said each man to his brother, We are truly guilty because of our brother whom we saw in distress of his soul, when he begged us, and we did not hear. So this distress has come to us.

My soul loathes my life; I will leave my complaint on myself; I will speak in the bitterness of my soul.

If I am wrong, woe to me! And if I am being righteous, I will not lift up my head, being filled with shame and seeing my pain.

Be silent from me, that I may speak; and let what will pass over me.

If I speak, my pain is not held back; and if I forbear, what part of me goes away?

And this one dies with bitter soul, and never eats with pleasure;

Even today my complaint is bitter; my hand is heavy over my groaning.

Beware! Do not turn to iniquity; for you have chosen this rather than affliction.

Do you intend to argue words, and the speeches that are as wind to cause despair?

If I say, I will forget my complaint, I will loosen my face and be cheerful,

My heart was hot within me; while the fire burned I was musing; I spoke with my tongue:

I have announced righteousness in the great assembly; behold, I will not restrain My lips; O Jehovah You know.

What shall I say? For He speaks to me, and He has acted. I shall go softly all my years over the bitterness of my soul.

Behold, for peace was bitter to me, yea, bitter, but You loved my soul from the pit of destruction; You have cast all my sins behind Your back.

And coming to be in agony, He prayed more intently. And His sweat came to be as drops of blood falling down onto the earth.

For out of much affliction and distress of heart I wrote to you, through many tears, not that you be grieved, but that you know the love which I have especially toward you.

And she was bitter of soul, and prayed to Jehovah, and weeping she wept.
