I will say to God, Do not condemn me; make me know on what ground You contend with me.

Surely I would speak to the Almighty, and I desire to reason with God.

I would set in order my cause before Him, and I would fill my mouth with arguments.

As God lives, He has turned aside my judgment; yea, the Almighty has made my soul bitter.

Why is light given to the sufferer, and life to him who is bitter of soul;

To a man whose way is hidden, God has made a hedge about him.

You changed to be cruel to me; You keep on assaulting me with the might of Your hand;

Oh that to me were one to listen to me! Behold my mark! Let the Almighty answer me, and let the Man of my contention write an indictment.

Why do you contend against Him, since in all His matters He does not answer to you?

Now gird up your loins like a man, for I will question you; and you make Me know.

And Jehovah answered Job and said:

Then Job answered Jehovah and said:

Am I a sea, or a sea-monster, that You set a watch over me?

If he would delight to argue with Him, he cannot answer Him one of a thousand.

That which has been, its name already was called, and it is known that he is man; and he is not able to contend with Him who is stronger than he.

With whom did He take counsel, and who trained Him and taught Him in the path of judgment; and taught Him knowledge, and made known to Him the way of discernment?

He is near, My Justifier. Who will contend with Me? Let us stand up together. Who is master of My judgment? Let him come near to Me.

I have laid a trap for you, and you also are captured, Babylon, and you did not know. You were found and also caught, because you stirred up yourself against Jehovah.

What is it to you that you use this proverb concerning the land of Israel, saying, The fathers have eaten sour grapes and the teeth of the sons are dull?

And having received it, they murmured against the housemaster,

Or do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? Are we stronger than He?

For “who has known the mind of the Lord?” “Who will instruct Him?” But we have the mind of Christ. Isa. 40:13
