He swallows the ground with quivering and trembling, and he does not stand still for the sound of the rams’ horn.

I laughed on those when they did not believe, and they did not make the light of my face to fall.

Shall it be told to Him that I would speak? If a man speaks, surely he will be swallowed up.

The quiver rattles against him, the flashing spear and the javelin.

When the rams’ horn sounds, he says, Aha! And he smells the battle from a distance, the thunder of the captains, and the shouting.

If I had called and He had not answered me I would not believe that He had listened to my voice;

My bowels! My bowels! I convulse in pain. O walls of my heart! My heart roars within me. I cannot be silent, for I have heard the sound of the rams’ horn. O my soul, the alarm of war!

I listened and heard. They did not speak so. No man repented because of this evil way, saying, What have I done? Everyone turned in their own courses, as a horse rushes into the battle.

If a rams’ horn is blown in a city, will the people not tremble? And if there is a calamity in a city and Jehovah has not done it?

But yet they not believing from the joy, and marveling, He said to them, Have you anything edible here?
