Beware! Do not turn to iniquity; for you have chosen this rather than affliction.

For you say, What will it benefit you? What shall I profit more than if I had sinned?

He also opens their ear to instruction, and commands that they turn back from iniquity.

He delivers the afflicted one by his affliction, and He opens their ears by oppression.

And if they are bound in chains, or caught in cords of affliction,

Also, I will not restrain my mouth; I will speak in the distress of my spirit; I will complain in the bitterness of my soul.

I have hated those keeping worthless idols; but I trust in Jehovah.

If I had regarded iniquity in my heart, Jehovah would not have heard.

Therefore, speak to them and say to them, So says the Lord Jehovah: Every man, the man of the house of Israel who causes idols to go up in his heart, and who sets the stumbling block of his iniquity before his face, and goes in to the prophet, I, Jehovah, will answer him in it by the host of his idols,

but has no root in himself, but is temporary, and tribulation, or persecution occurring because of the Word, he is at once stumbled.

having chosen rather to suffer mistreatment with the people of God than to have the temporary enjoyment of sin;

For it is better, if the will of God wills it, to suffer for doing good than for doing evil.
