before I go; and I shall not return, to the land of darkness, and the shadow of death;

a land of obscurity, the darkness of the shadow of death, and without any order; even the shining is as utter darkness.

You overpower him forever, and he goes. You change his face and send him away.

For years of number will come; and I shall not return the way I shall go.

If I wait for Sheol as my house, I have spread out my bed in the darkness;

For I know my Redeemer is living, and He shall rise on the dust at the last;

whom I shall see for myself, and my eyes shall behold, and no stranger; though my reins be exhausted in my bosom.

They spend their days in good, and in a moment go down to Sheol.

One dies in his full strength, wholly secure and at ease;

they lie down together on the dust, and the worm covers over them.

Drought and heat tear away the snow waters, and Sheol those who have sinned.

The womb shall forget him; the worm sucks on him; he shall be remembered no more; and injustice shall be broken like a tree.

The departed spirits are made to writhe from beneath the waters, and those residing there.

Sheol is naked before Him, and the Place of Ruin has no covering.

Why did the knees go before me; or why the breasts, that I should suck?

There is no darkness and no deathshade to hide there those who work iniquity.

And why do You not lift up my transgression, and make my iniquity pass away? For now I shall lie down in the dust, and You shall seek me; but I will not be.

All that your hand finds to do, do it with your strength. For there is no work, or planning, or knowledge, or wisdom, in Sheol, there where you go.

And they shall not lie with the mighty ones of the uncircumcised who are fallen, who have gone down to Sheol with their weapons of war. And they have put their swords under their heads, but their iniquities shall be on their bones, though the terror of the mighty ones was in the land of the living.
