They spend their days in good, and in a moment go down to Sheol.

They lift up voice at the timbrel and lyre, and rejoice at the sound of the flute.

One dies in his full strength, wholly secure and at ease;

the ones who were taken, but there was not time; their foundation was poured out by a river;

Drought and heat tear away the snow waters, and Sheol those who have sinned.

They are lifted up for a little while, but they are not; and they are brought low; they are gathered in like all others, and wither like the heads of ears of grain.

For now I would have lain down and have been quiet; I would have slept. Then I would have been at rest,

If they hear and serve, they shall spend their days in good, and their years in pleasures.

For there are no pangs to their death; but their belly is fat.

All that your hand finds to do, do it with your strength. For there is no work, or planning, or knowledge, or wisdom, in Sheol, there where you go.

And they came in across from Gibeah, ten thousand chosen men out of all Israel. And the battle was heavy. And they did not know that evil was striking against them.
