Because they have forsaken Me, and bow themselves to Ashtoreth the goddess of the Sidonians, to Chemosh the god of Moab, to Milcom the god of the sons of Ammon; and have not walked in My ways, to do the right in My eyes, and My statutes and My judgments, as his father David did.
Then Solomon built a high place for Chemosh, the abomination of Moab, in the hill that is before Jerusalem, and for Molech, the abomination of the sons of Ammon;
And Elijah said to them, Seize the prophets of Baal; do not let a man of them escape. And they caught them, and Elijah brought them down to the Kishon and killed them there.
And the anger of Jehovah glowed against Amaziah, and he sent a prophet to him; and he said to him, Why have you sought the gods of the people that have not delivered their people out of your hand?
And it shall be, when it is seen that Moab shall be wearied on the high place, then he shall come to his sacred place to pray, and he shall not be able.
Gather yourselves and come; draw near together, fugitives of the nations; the ones who set up the wood of their carved image, and the ones who pray to a god who does not save; they know nothing.
So, behold, the days come, a statement of Jehovah, that I will send ones tipping to him who will tip him over, and shall empty his vessels, and break their jars in pieces.
They shall howl, saying, How it is broken down! How has Moab turned his back in shame! And Moab shall be a mockery, and a terror to all those around him.
For because you have trusted in your works and in your treasures, you shall also be captured. And Chemosh shall go into exile; his priests and his rulers together.
Whatever Chemosh your god causes you to possess, do you not possess it? And all that which Jehovah our God has dispossessed from before us, we will possess!
