Cursed is he who does the work of Jehovah deceitfully, and cursed is he who keeps back his sword from blood.

And as the king passed by, it happened that he cried to the king, and said, Your servant went out into the middle of the battle, and behold, a man turned aside and brought a man to me, and said, Guard this man. If he is at all missing, even your life shall be for his life; or you shall weigh out a talent of silver.

And he said to him, So says Jehovah, Because you have sent away the man I had devoted from your hand, therefore your life shall go for his life, and your people for his people.

And the man of God was angry with him, and said, By striking five or six times, then you would have stricken Syria until it was finished; but now, you shall strike Syria three times.

and say to them, So says Jehovah, the God of Israel, Cursed is the man who does not obey the words of this covenant,

O sword of Jehovah, until when will you not be quiet? Put yourself into your sheath; rest, and be still.

How can you be quiet, since Jehovah has commanded it? He has set it there against Ashkelon, and against the seashore.

Jehovah has opened His armory and has brought out the weapons of His fury. For this is a work of Jehovah, God of Hosts, in the land of the Chaldeans.

Put the sword to all her bulls, let them go down to the slaughter. Woe to them! For their day has come, the time of their being called to account.

And you, do not stand still. Pursue your enemies, and you shall strike the hindmost of them. Do not allow them to go into their cities, for Jehovah your God has given them into your hand.

Cursing, curse Meroz, said the Angel of Jehovah; curse the ones living in it because they did not come to the help of Jehovah, to the help of Jehovah among the mighty ones.
