But Ishmael, the son of Nethaniah, escaped from Johanan with eight men, and went to the sons of Ammon.

And each man struck his man, and Syria fled, and Israel pursued them; and Ben-hadad the king of Syria escaped on a horse, also the horsemen.

And it happened in the seventh month, Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, the son of Elishama of the seed of the kingdom, and ten men with him came, and they struck Gedaliah, and he died, and the Jews and the Chaldeans who were with him in Mizpah.

For the wicked one is kept for the day of calamity; they shall be brought to the day of wrath.

A man pressed down with the blood of a soul shall flee to the pit; let them not uphold him.

And all the people that Ishmael had taken captive from Mizpah turned around and came back, and went to Johanan, the son of Kareah.

And when the foreigners saw the beast hanging from his hand, they said to one another, No doubt this man is a murderer, whom being saved out of the sea, Justice did not permit to live.

And David struck them from the twilight even to the evening of the next day. And not a man of them escaped, except four hundred young men who rode on camels and fled.
