Jeremiah 40:1

King James 3 - The Literal Traslation

The Word which was to Jeremiah from Jehovah, after Nebuzaradan, the chief of the executioners, had sent him from Ramah, when he had taken him and he was bound in chains among all the captives of Jerusalem and Judah being exiled to Babylon.

In the thirty sixth year of the reign of Asa, Baasha the king of Israel came up against Judah. And he built Ramah, so as not to permit any going out and coming in to Asa the king of Judah.

For He has broken gates of bronze; and He cut bars of iron in two.

God causes the lonely ones to live at home; He brings out those who are bound with chains, while the ones rebelling dwell in a dry land.

So says Jehovah, A voice was heard in Ramah, wailing, bitter weeping: Rachel weeping over her sons; she refuses to be comforted for her sons, for they are not.

And the rest of the people who remained in the city, and those who fell away, who fell to him, even the rest of the people who remained, Nebuzaradan, the chief of the executioners, exiled to Babylon.

And it happened at the end of ten days, the Word of Jehovah was to Jeremiah.

And it happened in the twelfth year, in the tenth month, on the fifth of the month of our exile, a fugitive out of Jerusalem came to me, saying, The city has been stricken.

But Paul answered, What are you doing, weeping and breaking my heart? For not only am I ready to be bound, but also to die at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.

Therefore, because of this, I called for you, to see and to speak to you. For I have this chain around me for the sake of the hope of Israel.

for which I am an ambassador in a chain, that in it I may speak boldly as it is right for me to speak.

And he returned to Ramah, for his house was there. And there he judged Israel; and he built an altar to Jehovah there.
