For I have heard a voice as of one weakened, the anguish as one bearing her first child, the voice of Zion’s daughter gasping and spreading her palms, saying, Woe is to me now, for my soul faints because of murderers!

As a pregnant woman draws near to give birth, she writhes and cries out in her pangs. So are we before You, Jehovah.

I have been silent; I was quiet and refrained Myself; I will groan like one giving birth; I will pant and gasp at once.

Then I said, Woe to me! For I am cut off; for I am a man of unclean lips, and I live amongst a people of unclean lips; for my eyes have seen the King, Jehovah of Hosts.

Woe to me for my breaking! My wound is grievous. But I said, Truly this is a sickness, and I must bear it.

What will you say when He calls you to account? For you taught them to be chiefs over you for a head. Will not birth pangs seize you like a woman bearing?

If I go out into the field, then I see those pierced with the sword. And if I enter into the city, then, behold, diseases of famine! Yes, both the prophet and the priest have gone around into a land that they do not know.

Why has my pain been continual and my wound incurable, refusing to be healed? You surely are to me as a deceitful stream, its waters cannot be trusted.

Therefore, give their sons to the famine, and make them run onto the hand of the sword. And let their wives be bereaved, and be widows, and let their men be the slain of death, their young men be those struck by the sword in battle.

One dwelling in Lebanon, nested in the cedars, How gracious will you be when pangs come to you, the pain as one giving birth!

Ask now and see whether a male is giving birth? Why do I see every man with his hands on his loins, like one giving birth. and have turned all faces to paleness.

So says Jehovah, the God of Israel, to you, O Baruch:

Kerioth is captured, and the strongholds are seized. And the mighty men’s hearts in Moab shall be at that day like the heart of a woman being distressed.

Behold, he shall come up and fly like the eagle and spread his wings over Bozrah. And at that day the heart of the mighty men of Edom shall be like the heart of a woman being distressed.

Damascus has become feeble; she has turned to flee, and trembling has seized her; anguish and pangs have taken her like one giving birth.

The king of Babylon has heard their report, and his hands sank; anguish seized him, pangs like one giving birth.

I will destroy the daughter of Zion, the beautiful and delicate one.

Zion spreads forth her hands; there is not one comforting to her; Jehovah has commanded concerning Jacob that his oppressive one should be round about him. Jerusalem has become as an impurity among them.

See, O Jehovah, for distress is to me. My bowels ferment; my heart is turned over within me; for rebelling I have rebelled. On the outside the sword bereaves; in the house it is as death.

Young and old lie on the ground of the outside places. My virgins and my young men have fallen by the sword. You have killed in the day of Your anger. You have killed, You have not pitied.

The pangs of one giving birth shall come to him; he is not a wise son, for he cannot stand in the time of the breaking forth of sons.

Be in pain and deliver, daughter of Zion, like one giving birth. For now you shall go out from the city, and you shall live in the field. And you shall come to Babylon. There you shall be snatched back. There Jehovah shall redeem you from the palm of your enemies.

Now why do you cry aloud, an outcry? Is there not a king among you? Has one advising you perished? For pain has seized you like one giving birth.

Woe to me! For I am like the gatherings of summer fruit, like the gleanings of the vintage. There is no cluster to eat; my soul craves the early fig.

“Tell the daughter of Zion, Behold, your King comes to you, meek and mounted on an ass, even a young ass, the son of a sheass.” Isa. 62:11; Zech. 9:9

For if I preach the gospel, no glory is to me; for necessity is laid on me, and it is woe to me if I do not preach the gospel.

For when they say, Peace and safety! Then sudden destruction comes upon them, like the birth-pain to the one having babe in womb, and they shall not escape, not one.
