Jeremiah 38:17

King James 3 - The Literal Traslation

And Jeremiah said to Zedekiah, So says Jehovah, the God of Hosts, the God of Israel: If going out you will go out to the rulers of the king of Babylon, even your soul shall live, and this city shall not be burned with fire. And you and your house shall live.

And Jehoiachin the king of Judah went out to the king of Babylon, he and his mother, and his servants, and his leaders, and his eunuchs. And the king of Babylon took him in the eighth year of his reign.

And it happened in the thirty-seventh year of the captivity of Jehoiachin the king of Judah, in the twelfth month, in the twenty-seventh of the month, Evilmerodach the king of Babylon, in the year he began to reign, lifted up the head of Jehoiachin the king of Judah out of the prison,

let it even be established, and Your name be great forever, saying, Jehovah of Hosts, the God of Israel is God to Israel; and the house of Your servant David shall be made to stand before You;

And everyone who trembled at the words of the God of Israel were gathered to me, because of the perfidy of the exiles. And I remained stunned until the evening offering.

But He is in one mind, and who can turn Him? Yea, His soul desires, and He does it.

O God of Hosts turn back, we pray! Look down from Heaven and see and watch over this vine;

O God of Hosts, turn us again, and cause Your face to shine, and we will be saved.

I also spoke to Zedekiah, king of Judah according to all these words, saying, Bring your necks into the king of Babylon’s yoke, and serve him and his people, and live.

Do not listen to them. Serve the king of Babylon and live. Why should this city be a waste?

And it shall be, the nation and kingdom which will not serve him, Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, and that will not put its neck in the yoke of the king of Babylon, I will call to account that nation, a statement of Jehovah, with the sword, and with the famine, and with the plague, until I have destroyed them by his hand.

So says Jehovah, He who remains in this city shall die by the sword, by the famine, and by the plague. But he who goes forth to the Chaldeans shall live; and his life shall be a prize, and he shall live.

And all the rulers of the king of Babylon came in and sat in the middle gate: Nergalsharezer, Samgar-nebo, Sarsechim, chief of the eunuchs, Nergal-sharezer, chief magician, and all the rest of the rulers of the king of Babylon.

And Gedaliah, the son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, swore to them and to their men, saying, Do not fear to serve the Chaldeans. Live in the land, and serve the king of Babylon, and it shall be well with you.

And now so says Jehovah, the God of Hosts, the God of Israel: Why do you do this great evil thing against your souls, to cut off from you man and woman, child and suckling, out of Judah, not leaving to yourselves a remnant,

And, behold! The glory of the God of Israel was there, like the appearance which I saw in the plain.

And I will exile you beyond Damascus, says Jehovah; the God of Hosts is His name.
