Jeremiah 33:4

For so says Jehovah, the God of Israel, concerning the houses of this city, and concerning the houses of the kings of Judah, which are broken down to defend against the siege mounds, and against the sword,

And you have counted the houses of Jerusalem; and you broke down the houses to fortify the wall.

Thorns and briers shall go up on the land of My people; even over all the houses of joy in the jubilant city,

for the palace is left alone; the crowd of the city is forsaken; mound and tower are instead caves, until forever; a joy of wild asses; pasture for flocks;

Behold, the siege mounds have come to the city, to capture it. And the city is given into the hand of the Chaldeans who fight against it, because of the sword, and the famine, and the plague. And what You have spoken has happened. And, behold, You see it.

For so Jehovah of Hosts has said, Cut down her trees and pour out a siege-mound against Jerusalem. She is the city to be called to account; in her midst is oppression, all of her.

The Lord has cast off His altar; He rejected the holy place. He has delivered the walls of her fortresses into the hand of the enemy. They gave a noise in Jehovah’s house, as a day of meeting.

At his right shall be the divination for Jerusalem, to set battering rams, to open the mouth in the slaughter, to lift up the voice with shouting, to set battering rams against the gates, to pour out a mound, and to build a siege-wall.

He shall kill your daughters in the field with the sword. And he shall set siege walls against you and pour out a mound against you, and raise a buckler against you.

And set a siege on it, and build a fort on it, and pour out a ramp on it. And place a camp on it, and set battering rams round about on it.

And he shall scoff against the kings, and officials shall be a scorn to him. He shall scorn every fortress, and he shall heap up dust and capture it.

Only the tree which you know not to be a fruit tree, you may destroy it, and may cut it down, and may build a bulwark against the city making war with you, until you have subdued it.
