Jeremiah 31:18

King James 3 - The Literal Traslation

Hearing I have heard Ephraim moaning over himself, saying, You have chastised me, and I was chastised, as a bull calf not trained . Turn me back, and I shall be turned; for You are Jehovah my God.

Behold, blessed is the man whom God corrects; and despise not the chastening of the Almighty.

Chastening, Jah has chastened me, but He has not given me to death.

Before I was afflicted I went astray; but now I have kept Your Word.

I know, O Jehovah, righteous are Your judgments; and in faithfulness You afflicted me.

My times are in Your hand; deliver me from the hand of my enemies and from those who pursue me.

A man of chastisements who hardens his neck shall be broken with suddenness, and there will be no healing.

My son, do not reject the chastening of Jehovah, and do not loathe His chastisement;

Why will you be stricken any more? Will you continue the revolt? The whole head is sick, and the whole heart is faint.

Your sons have fainted; they lie at the head of all the outside places, like an antelope in a net, filled with the fury of Jehovah, the rebuke of your God.

He was oppressed, and He was afflicted, but He did not open His mouth. He was led as a lamb to the slaughter; and as a ewe before her shearers is mute, and He opened not His mouth.

For You are our Father, though Abraham does not know us, and Israel does not recognize us; You, Jehovah, are our Father, our Redeemer; Your name is from everlasting.

For the people do not turn back to Him who strikes them, and they do not seek Jehovah of Hosts.

Heal me, O Jehovah, and I will be healed; save me, and I will be saved; for You are my praise.

In vain I have stricken your sons; they took no correction. Your own sword has devoured your prophets, like a destroying lion.

We lie down in our shame, and our confusion covers us. For we have sinned against Jehovah our God, we and our fathers, from our youth even to this day. And we have not obeyed the voice of Jehovah our God.

For there shall be a day when the watchmen on Ephraim’s hills shall call out, Rise up and let us go up to Zion, to Jehovah our God.

They shall come with weeping, and I will lead them with supplications. I will cause them to walk by torrents of waters, in a right way; they will not stumble in it. For I am a father to Israel, and Ephraim is My first-born.

O Jehovah, Your eyes, are they not for faithfulness? You struck them, but they felt no pain. You consumed them, yet they refused to take correction. They made their faces harder than rock; they have refused to turn back.

Return us to You, O Jehovah, and we shall return. Renew our days as of old,

And you shall remember there your ways and all your doings by which you have been defiled in them. And you will hate yourselves to your faces for all your evils which you have done.

As it is written in the Law of Moses, all this evil has come on us. And we have not made our prayer before the face of Jehovah our God that we might turn from our iniquities and understand Your truth.

And Ephraim is a trained heifer, loving to tread out. But I passed over on the goodness of her neck; I will make Ephraim to ride; Judah shall plow; Jacob shall harrow for him.

For as a heifer, rebelling Israel rebels. Now Jehovah will feed them as a lamb in a roomy place.

I will go; I will return to My place until they confess their guilt and seek My face. In the oppressing one they will seek Me diligently.

And God saw their deeds, that they turned back from their evil way. And God was moved to pity of the evil that He had spoken to do to them, and He did not do it.

She did not listen to the voice; she did not receive correction; she did not trust in Jehovah; she did not draw near to her God.

Then those fearing Jehovah spoke together, each man to his neighbor. And Jehovah gave attention and heard. And a Book of Remembrance was written before Him for those fearing Jehovah, and for those esteeming His name.

And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the sons, and the heart of the sons to their fathers, lest I come and strike the earth with utter destruction.

On the west side shall be the standard of the camp of Ephraim, according to their armies; the ruler of the sons of Ephraim being Elishama the son of Ammihud.

And he will go ahead before Him in the spirit and power of Elijah “to turn the hearts of fathers to their children,” and disobedient ones to the wisdom of the just, to make ready a people having been prepared for the Lord. Mal. 4:5, 6

And rising up, he came to his father. But he yet being far away, his father saw him and was moved with compassion. And running, he fell on his neck and fervently kissed him.

Having raised up His Servant Jesus, God sent Him first to you, blessing you in turning away each one from your iniquities.

for it is God who is working in you both to will and to work for the sake of His good pleasure.

And you have forgotten the exhortation which He speaks with you, as with sons, “My sons, do not despise the chastening of the Lord, nor faint while being corrected by Him.

I, as many “as I love, I rebuke and I chasten.” Be zealous, then, and repent. Prov. 3:12
