O Jehovah, You have deceived me; yea, I was deceived. You are stronger than I, and You have prevailed. I am a derision all the day; everyone mocks me.

And he went up from there to Beth-el. And he was going up in the highway. And little boys came out from the city and mocked him, and said to him, Go up, bald head! Go up, bald head!

I am a laughingstock to his friend; he calls to God, and He answers him; the just one, the blameless one is a mockery;

And now I have become their song; yea, I am their byword.

The proud have scorned me utterly; I have not veered from Your Law.

For so Jehovah spoke to me with a strong hand, and taught me against walking in the way of this people, saying,

Woe to me, my mother, that you have borne me, a man of strife, and a man of contention to the whole earth! I have not loaned, and not have they loaned to me; yet everyone curses me.

Why has my pain been continual and my wound incurable, refusing to be healed? You surely are to me as a deceitful stream, its waters cannot be trusted.

And I have not hurried away from being a shepherd after You;I have not desired the woeful day. You know that the going forth of my lips was before Your face.

And I said, I will not mention Him or speak any more in His name. But His Word was in my heart like a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I was weary of holding in, and I was not able.

Jehovah has given you to be priest instead of Jehoiada the priest, to be overseers in the house of Jehovah, over every man being mad who prophesies, that you should put him into the stocks and into the torture collar.

And Zedekiah the king said to Jeremiah, I am afraid of the Jews who have fallen to the Chaldeans, lest they give me into their hand and they abuse me.

I was a mockery to all my people, their song all the day.

So the Spirit lifted me up and took me, and I went bitterly in the heat of my spirit, and the hand of Jehovah was strong upon me.

The days of her calling to account have come; Israel shall know the days of her retribution. The prophet is a fool, the man of spirit is mad, for great is your iniquity and your hatred much.

And he prayed to Jehovah, and said, Please, O Jehovah, was this not my word while I was on my own land? On account of this at first I fled to Tarshish, for I knew that You are a gracious God and compassionate, slow to anger, and great of mercy, and One who has pity over calamity.

But by the Spirit of Jehovah I am full of power and justice and might, to declare to Jacob his transgression, and his sin to Israel.

And being lovers of money, the Pharisees also heard all these things; and they derided Him.

And Herod having despised Him with his soldiery, and having mocked Him by putting around Him luxurious clothing, he sent Him back to Pilate.

And some of the Epicurean and of the Stoic philosophers encountered him. And some said, What may this seed-picker wish to say? And these others, He seems to be a proclaimer of foreign demons (because he proclaimed Jesus and the resurrection to them).

And hearing of a resurrection of the dead, the ones indeed ridiculed, but said, We will hear you again concerning this.

Or is it only Barnabas and I who have no authority not to work?

And others received trial of mockings and of scourgings; yea, more, of bonds and of prison:
