Now, behold, you have trusted for yourself on the staff of this broken reed, on Egypt, which if a man lean on it, it will go into his hand and pierce it! So is Pharaoh the king of Egypt to all those who trust in him.

And Pharaoh-necho bound him in Riblah, in the land of Hamath, from reigning in Jerusalem, and he put a fine on the land, a hundred talents of silver and a talent of gold.

Declare it in Egypt, and make it heard in Migdol, and make it heard in Noph and in Tahpanhes; say, Stand fast and prepare yourself, for the sword shall devour all around you.

O daughter dwelling in Egypt, prepare for yourself vessels of exile. For Noph shall be a waste, and burned, without one living in it.

Those who fled stood powerless in the shadow of Heshbon, for a fire shall go out of Heshbon, and a flame out of the midst of Sihon, and shall devour the corner of Moab, and the crown of the head of the sons of tumult.

So says the Lord Jehovah: And I will destroy the idols, and I will make vanities cease from Noph. And there shall not any longer be a ruler of the land of Egypt. And I will put fear in the land of Egypt.

And I will set a fire in Egypt; Sin agonizing shall agonize, and Thebes shall be broken open, and Noph shall have daily woes.

For, behold, they have gone from destruction; Egypt shall gather them; Memphis shall bury them. Nettles shall possess the desirable things of their silver; thorns shall be in their tents.

And of Gad he said, Blessed is he who enlarges Gad; he shall live like a lioness, and shall tear the arm, also the top of the head.
