But they say, It is hopeless. For we will walk after our own thoughts, and we will each man do according to the stubbornness of his evil heart.

And Jehovah saw that the evil of man was great on the earth, and every purpose of the thoughts of his heart was only evil all the day.

And Jehovah smelled the soothing fragrance, and Jehovah said in His heart, I will never again curse the ground for the sake of man, because the purpose of the heart of man is evil from his youth. Yea, I will not again smite every living thing as I have done.

While he was speaking with them, then, behold, the messenger came down to him. And he said, Behold, this is the evil from Jehovah. Why should I wait for Jehovah any more?

You were wearied in the length of your way; you did not say, Despair! You found the life of your hand, so you were not sick.

I have spread out My hands all the day long to a rebelling people who walk in the way not good, after their own thoughts;

They did not hear and did not stretch out their ear, but each man walked in the stubbornness of his evil heart. And I will bring on them all the words of this covenant which I commanded them to do, but they did not do.

And you have done more evil than your fathers. For, behold, you each man walk after the stubbornness of his evil heart, without hearing Me.

Withhold your foot from being bare and your throat from thirst. But you said, It is hopeless! No! For I love strangers, and after them I will go.

Saying they say to those who spurn Me, Jehovah has said, You shall have peace. And they say to everyone who walks in the stubbornness of his own heart, Evil things shall not come on you.

At that time they shall call Jerusalem the throne of Jehovah. And all nations shall be gathered to it, to the name of Jehovah, to Jerusalem. And they shall not walk any more after the stubbornness of their evil heart.

But doing we will do whatever thing goes out of our own mouth, to burn incense to the queen of the heavens, and to pour out drink offerings to her, as we have done, we and our fathers, our kings, and our rulers, in the cities of Judah and in the outside places of Jerusalem. And we were satisfied with food, and were well, and saw no evil thing.

And I raised watchmen over you, saying, Attend to the sound of the rams’ horn; but they said, We will not listen.

But they did not listen, and did not stretch out their ear. But they walked in their own plans, in the stubbornness of their evil heart, and went backward and not forward.

And He said to me, Son of man, these bones are all the house of Israel. Behold, they say, Our bones are dried, and our hope is perished; we are cut off to ourselves.

You have said, It is vanity to serve God. And, What unjust profit is it that we have kept His charge, and that we have walked as mourners before Jehovah of Hosts?

He performed mightily with His arm; He scattered proud ones in the thought of their heart.

and it happens when he hears the words of this curse, that he should bless himself in his heart, saying, I shall have peace, even though I walk in the stubbornness of my heart, to snatch away the drunken with the thirsty.
