By this we bless God and the Father; and by this we curse men, the ones having come into being according to the image of God. Gen. 1:26

This is the book of the generations of Adam: In the day that God created man, He made him in the likeness of God.

Whoever sheds man’s blood, his blood shall be shed by man. For He made man in the image of God.

And King David came to Bahurim. And, behold, a man was coming out from there, of the family of the house of Saul; and his name was Shimei, the son of Gera. He came out, and he came cursing.

And Abishai the son of Zeruiah answered and said, Shall not Shimei die for this, because he cursed the anointed of Jehovah?

And David blessed Jehovah before the eyes of all the congregation; and David said, Blessed are You, O Jehovah, the God of Israel, our father, for ever and ever.

And David said to all the assembly, Now bless Jehovah your God. And all the assembly blessed Jehovah, the God of their fathers, and worshiped Jehovah, and bowed to the king.

His mouth is full of cursing and deceit and oppression; under his tongue are mischief and vanity.

A Song. A Psalm of David. O God, my heart is fixed; I will sing; yea, I will sing songs even with my glory.

A Psalm of Praise, of David. I will exalt you, my God, O King; and bless Your name forever and ever.

My mouth shall speak the praise of Jehovah; and all flesh shall bless His holy name forever and ever.

So My heart is glad, and My glory rejoices; My flesh shall also rest in hope;

So my glory shall praise You, and not be quiet; O Jehovah, my God, I will give thanks to You forever.

A Psalm of David, when he changed his behavior before Abimelech; and he drove him away, and he went. I will bless Jehovah at all times; His praise shall always be in my mouth.

And my tongue will speak of Your righteousness and of Your praise all the day.

Deliver me from blood guilt, O God, O God of my salvation; my tongue shall sing aloud of Your righteousness.

Wake up my glory! Wake up, harp and lyre! I will stir the dawn with praise.

For the sin of their mouth is the word of their lips, even let them be taken in their pride, and for cursing and the lying which they speak.

Surely, they plotted to cast him down from his exaltation; they delight in lies; they bless with their mouth, but they curse in their inward parts. Selah.

So I will bless You while I live; I will lift up my palms in Your name.

And my tongue shall muse on Your righteousness all the day; because those seeking my evil are ashamed; they are put to shame.

For also your own heart knows that you yourself have also cursed others many times.

And the Lord says, Because this people draws near with its mouth, and they honor Me with its lips; but its heart is far from Me, and their fear of Me is taught the commandment by men;

Then he began to curse and to swear, I do not know the man. And immediately a cock sounded.

but I say to you, Love your enemies; bless those cursing you, do well to those hating you; and pray for those abusing and persecuting you,

Because of this My heart rejoiced, and My tongue exulted; and My flesh also will dwell on hope,

whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness.

For truly a man ought not to have the head covered, being the image and glory of God. But woman is the glory of man;

Blessed is the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms with Christ,

Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their afflictions, and to keep oneself without blemish from the world.

Out of the same mouth comes forth blessing and cursing. My brothers, it is not fitting for these things to be so.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the one according to His great mercy having regenerated us to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

And they went out into the fields and gathered their vineyards, and trod out, and made a festival, and went into the house of their god and ate and drank, and cursed Abimelech.
