Isaiah 56:12

King James 3 - The Literal Traslation

Come, and let me take wine, and let us gulp down fermented liquor; and tomorrow shall be as this day, great, exceedingly abundant.

He gives security to him, and he leans on it; yet His eyes are on their ways.

He has said in his heart, I shall not be moved! From generation to generation never in evil.

Wine is a mocker, strong liquor is stirring, and each one straying by it is not being wise.

saying, They struck me! I was not sick! They beat me, yet I did not know. When I awaken I will add to it, I will still seek it.

Do not boast in the day of tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring forth.

Is it not good that he should eat and drink and make his soul see good in his labor? This I also saw, that it was from the hand of God.

Woe to those who rise early in the morninog pursue fermented drink, tarrying in the twilight while wine inflames them!

Fornication and wine and new wine take away the heart.

Hear this Word, cows of Bashan who are in the mountain of Samaria, those press- ing down the poor ones, those crushing the needy ones, who say to their husbands, Bring in, that we may drink.

For as long as thorns are woven together, and as their drunkards are drunken, they shall be devoured like fully dried straw.

But take heed to yourselves that your hearts not be loaded down with headaches, and drinking, and anxieties of life, and that day come suddenly upon you.

If according to man I fought with beasts in Ephesus, what is the profit to me if the dead ones are not raised? (“Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die”). Isa. 22:13.)

(It is right for the overseer to be blameless as a steward of God) not self-pleasing, not prone to anger, not given to wine, not a quarreler, not greedy of ill gain;
