Go down and sit on the dust, O virgin daughter of Babylon; sit on the earth; a throne is not to the daughter of the Chaldeans, for they shall not again call you tender and delicate.

O daughter of Babylon, O devastated one! Blessed is he who shall repay to you your recompense which you dealt to us.

The burden of Babylon which Isaiah the son of Amoz saw:

On account of this I will shake the heavens, and the earth shall move out of its place, in the wrath of Jehovah of Hosts, and in the day of the heat of His anger.

For Jehovah will have pity on Jacob, and will yet choose among Israel, and set them in their own land. And the alien shall be joined to them; and they shall join themselves to the house of Jacob.

The burden of the wilderness of the sea: As tempests in the Negeb pass, it comes from the wilderness, from a terrifying land.

And He said, You shall not again still rejoice, oppressed one, virgin daughter of Sidon. Arise, cross over to Kittim, even there is no rest to you.

For He bows those living on high; He lays low the lofty city; He lays it low to the ground; He strikes down even to the dust.

And her gates shall lament and mourn, and she shall sit on the ground.

this is the word Jehovah has spoken about him: The virgin, the daughter of Zion, has despised you, mocking you; the daughter of Jerusalem has shaken the head behind you.

Shake yourself from the dust; rise up! Sit, Jerusalem; free yourself from your neck bands, O captive daughter of Zion.

Say to the king and to the queen mother, Humble yourselves, sit down. For the crown of your glory will come down from your head places.

Go up into Gilead and take balm, O virgin daughter of Egypt. In vain you shall use many remedies; healing is not for you.

Come down from glory and sit in thirst, one living in it, daughter in Dibon. For shall come upon you one ruining Moab; he has ruined your strongholds.

The Word that Jehovah spoke against Babylon, against the land of the Chaldeans by Jeremiah the prophet:

They lay hold of a bow and a javelin, they shall be cruel and will show no mercy. Their voice shall roar like the sea, and arrayed like a man for the battle, they shall ride on horses against you, O daughter of Babylon.

Behold, I am stirring up a destroying wind against Babylon and against those living in the heart of those who rose against Me.

For so says Jehovah of Hosts, the God of Israel, The daughter of Babylon is like a threshing-floor, it is time to tread her; yet a little while, and the time of her harvest will come.

We are ashamed, for we have heard reproach, dishonor has covered our faces. For aliens have come into the holy places of the house of Jehovah.

They sit on the ground; the elders of Zion’s daughters are silent. They made dust go up on their heads, they gird on sackcloths. The virgins of Jerusalem let their heads go down to the ground.

Young and old lie on the ground of the outside places. My virgins and my young men have fallen by the sword. You have killed in the day of Your anger. You have killed, You have not pitied.

Those who ate delicacies are desolate in the outside places; those reared on scarlet embrace dunghills.

And all the rulers of the sea shall come down from their thrones and lay aside their robes and strip off their embroidered garments. They shall be clothed with tremblings. They shall sit on the ground and shall tremble at every moment and be appalled at you.

Your heart was lifted up because of your beauty; you corrupted your wisdom because of your splendor. I have cast you to the ground. I will put you before kings, that they may see you.

And the word touched even to the king of Nineveh, and he arose from his throne, and he passed his robe from him and covered himself with sackcloth and sat on the ashes.

And I will overturn the throne of the kingdoms, and I will destroy the strength of the kingdoms of the nations. And I will overturn the chariots and those riding in them, and the horses and those riding will come down, each man by the sword of his brother.

Ho, O Zion! Escape, you who live with the daughter of Babylon.

By as many things as she glorified herself, and luxuriated, by so much give to her torment and mourning, because she says in her heart, I sit as a queen, and I am not a widow; and I shall not see mourning, not ever!
