They lift up it on the shoulder; they lift it up and set it in its place, and it stands; it shall not move from its place. Yea, he cries to it, but it does not answer, it does not save him from his distress.

And they took the bull that one gave to them, and prepared, and called on the name of Baal from the morning even until noon, saying, O Baal, answer us! And there was no sound, and no one was answering; and they limped about the altar that one had made.

And it happened as noon passed by, that they prophesied madly until the offering up of the offering; and no sound came, and no one was answering, and no one was paying attention.

And Elijah said to them, Seize the prophets of Baal; do not let a man of them escape. And they caught them, and Elijah brought them down to the Kishon and killed them there.

And it happened as he was worshiping in the house of his god Nisroch, even his sons Adrammelech and Sharezer struck him with the sword. And they escaped into the land of Ararat. And his son Esar-haddon reigned in his place.

He too poor for that offering chooses a tree that will not rot; he seeks a skilled craftsman for him, to prepare a carved image that will not be shaken.

But I saw, and there was not a man; and of these, there was not a counselor, that I may ask them, and they could return a word.

Behold, they are all evil; their works are nothing; their molten images are wind and vanity.

So the carver strengthens the refiner; and he smoothing with the hammer, him who struck the anvil, saying of the soldering, It is good. And he made it strong with nails; it will not totter.

He carves iron with a tool; he works in the coals and forms it with hammers, and works it with his powerful arm; then he is hungry, and has no strength; he drinks no water and is weary.

Gather yourselves and come; draw near together, fugitives of the nations; the ones who set up the wood of their carved image, and the ones who pray to a god who does not save; they know nothing.

Bel has bowed; Nebo stoops; their idols are for the beast, and for the cattle; your things borne about are loads; a burden for the weary.

So they are to you with whom you have labored, your traders from your youth; each man wanders to his own side; no one saves you.

They are like a rounded palm tree, and they cannot speak; lifting they must be lifted, because they cannot walk. Do not be afraid of them, for they cannot do evil and not good; it is not with them.

And the cities of Judah and those living in Jerusalem shall go and cry to the gods to whom they burned incense, to them. But they are not at all able to save them in the time of their evil.

But where are your gods that you have made for yourselves? Let them arise, if they can save you in the time of your evil; for according to the number of your cities are your gods, O Judah.

Nebuchadnezzar the king made an image of gold whose height was sixty cubits; its breadth, six cubits. He set it up in the plain of Dura, in the province of Babylon.

You know that when you were nations, how you were led, being carried away to voiceless idols.

And the men of Ashdod rose early on the next day. And, behold! Dagon had fallen on its face to the earth before the ark of Jehovah! And they took Dagon and put it back in its place.
