The burden of the beasts of the south: Into the land of distress and constraint. The lioness and the lion are from them; the viper and fiery flying serpent. They lift up their riches on the shoulders of young asses, and their treasures on the humps of camels, to a people who cannot profit them.

Have the gods of the nations delivered those whom my fathers have destroyed, Gozan and Haran, and Rezeph, and the sons of Eden who were in Telassar?

and have given their gods into the fire (for they were not gods, only the work of men’s hands, wood and stone; and they have destroyed them.

And he makes a god of the rest, his carved image; he bows to it and worships, and prays to it, and says, Deliver me, for you are my god.

Gather yourselves and come; draw near together, fugitives of the nations; the ones who set up the wood of their carved image, and the ones who pray to a god who does not save; they know nothing.

For because you have trusted in your works and in your treasures, you shall also be captured. And Chemosh shall go into exile; his priests and his rulers together.

So behold, the days come that I will visit on the idols of Babylon. And all her land shall be shamed, and all pierced in her shall fall in her midst.

And he will also bring their gods with their molten images, with silver and gold vessels of their possessions, into exile to Egypt. And for years he will stand away from the king of the north.

And Jehovah has commanded concerning you. Not one of your name shall be sown any more; I will cut off the carved image and the molten image out of the house of your gods; I will appoint your grave, for you are despised.

And he said, You have taken my gods which I made, and the priest, and you are going, and what more do I have? What is this you say to me, What ails you?

And the men of Ashdod rose early on the next day. And, behold! Dagon had fallen on its face to the earth before the ark of Jehovah! And they took Dagon and put it back in its place.
