Isaiah 37:4

King James 3 - The Literal Traslation

It may be Jehovah your God will hear the words of the chief cupbearer whom his master the king of Assyria has sent to reproach the living God, and rebuke against the words which Jehovah your God has heard. And you shall lift up prayer for the remnant that is found.

so that Jehovah was very angry against Israel, and turned them away from His face; not one was left, only the tribe of Judah alone.

It may be that Jehovah your God will hear all the words of the chief cupbearer, with which his master the king of Assyria has sent him to reproach the living God, and will rebuke the words which Jehovah your God has heard; and you shall lift up prayer for the remnant that is found.

For Jehovah had humbled Judah because of Ahaz the king of Israel, for he loosed immorality in Judah, and acted unfaithfully against Jehovah.

Go, inquire of Jehovah for me and for him who is left in Israel and in Judah, as to the words of the book that has been found, for great is the wrath of Jehovah that is poured out on us, because our fathers have not kept the Word of Jehovah, to do according to all that is written in this book.

And He said to exterminate them; except Moses His elect had stood before Him in the breach, to turn away His wrath from destroying them.

You have done these things, and I have kept silence; you thought that being I would be like you; but I will rebuke you and set in order before your eyes.

And the daughter of Zion is left a booth in a vineyard, like a hut in a cucumber field, like a besieged city.

Except Jehovah of Hosts had left a remnant for us, a few, we would be as Sodom; we would be as Gomorrah.

And it shall be in that day, the remnant of Israel, and the fugitives from the house of Jacob, shall not any more lean on the one striking him. But they will in truth lean on Jehovah, the Holy One of Israel.

For though Your people Israel is like the sand of the sea, only a remnant of it shall return, and an end will be decisive, overflowing with righteousness.

Lest Hezekiah persuade you, saying, Jehovah will deliver us. Have the gods of the nations delivered a man of his land from the king of Assyria’s hand?

Who among all the gods of these lands has delivered their land out of my hand, that Jehovah should deliver Jerusalem out of my hand?

Stretch out Your ear, O Jehovah, and hear. Open Your eye, O Jehovah, and see; and hear all the words of Sennacherib which he has sent to reproach the living God.

The escaped of the house of Judah that remains to be a root downward, and it produces fruit upward.

For a remnant shall go out of Jerusalem, and the escaped out of Mount Zion; the zeal of Jehovah of Hosts shall do this.

So the servants of King Hezekiah came to Isaiah.

Fear not, worm of Jacob, men of Israel; I will help you, a statement of Jehovah, and your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel.

Listen to me, O house of Jacob, and all the remnant of the house of Israel; who are borne from the belly, who are lifted from the womb:

Did Hezekiah, king of Judah and all Judah indeed cause him to die? Did he not fear Jehovah and entreat the face of Jehovah? And did not Jehovah repent of the evil which He had spoken against them? Even we are doing great evil against our souls.

And they said to Jeremiah the prophet, Please let our plea fall before you; and pray for us to Jehovah your God, for all this remnant, (for we are left over, but a few of many, as your eyes see us),

that they might pray for the mercies of God in Heaven about this secret, that Daniel and his companions should not perish with the rest of the wise men of Babylon.

Let the priests, ministers of Jehovah, weep between the porch and the altar; and let them say, Have pity on Your people, O Jehovah, and do not give Your inheritance to shame, for a proverb among those of the nations. Why should they say among the peoples, Where is their God?

Hate evil, and love good, and set up judgment in the gate. It may be Jehovah the God of Hosts will be gracious to the remnant of Joseph.

And it happened when it had made an end of eating the green plant of the land, even I said, Lord Jehovah, I pray, forgive. How can Jacob rise up? For he is small.

But Isaiah cries on behalf of Israel, “If the number of the sons of Israel be as the sand of the sea, the remnant will be saved.”

Confess to one another the deviations from the Law, and pray for one another, that you may be healed; being very strong, the prayer of a righteous one works effectually.

And now, give to me this mountain, of which Jehovah spoke in that day, for you heard in that day how the sons of Anak were there, and great walled cities. If Jehovah shall be with me, then I shall dispossess them, as Jehovah has spoken.

And all the people said to Samuel, Pray to Jehovah your God for your servants, that we may not die, for we have added this evil to all our sins, to ask a king for ourselves.

Also I, far be it from me from sinning against Jehovah, from ceasing to pray for you. But I will instruct you in the good and the right way.

And Jonathan said to the young man bearing his weapons, Come, we shall cross over to the garrison of these uncircumcised ones. It may be Jehovah will work for us, for there is no hindrance to Jehovah, to save by many or by few.

And David spoke to the men who were standing with him, saying, What shall be done to the man who strikes this Philistine, and turns aside reproach from Israel? For who is this uncircumcised Philistine that he should reproach the armies of the living God?

Your servant has struck both the lion and the bear, and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be as one of them, for he has reproached the armies of the living God.

And the sons of Israel said to Samuel, Do not cease to cry to Jehovah our God for us, that He save us out of the hand of the Philistines.
