For through the voice of Jehovah, Assyria shall be crushed, the rod with which He strikes.

And those who turn aside to their crooked ways, Jehovah shall lead them forth with the doers of iniquity. Peace be upon Israel.

And it will be, when the Lord has broken off all His work in Mount Zion and in Jerusalem, I will call to account on him the fruit of the greatness of heart of the king of Assyria, and on the glory of his high eyes.

Shall the axe glorify itself over him chopping with it? Or shall the saw magnify itself over him moving it? As if a rod could wave those who lift it. As if a staff could raise what is not wood!

So the Lord Jehovah of Hosts says this: Oh My people who dwell in Zion, do not fear Assyria. He shall strike you with the rod, and he shall lift up his staff against you in the way of Egypt.

And Jehovah of Hosts shall stir up a scourge on him, according to the striking of Midian at the rock Oreb; and as His rod was on the sea, and He lifted it up in the way of Egypt.

Woe to Assyria, the rod of My anger! Yea, My fury is the staff in their hand.

But He shall judge the poor ones in righteousness, and shall decide with uprightness for the humble ones of the earth. And He shall strike the earth with the rod of His mouth, and He shall cause the wicked one to die with the breath of His lip.

to break Assyria in My land, and trample him on My mountains, and his yoke shall depart from them, and his burden shall depart from his shoulders.

As the wound of the wounded did He strike him? Or as the slaughter of them slain by Him, is he slain?

And Jehovah shall make the majesty of His voice heard; and He causes His arm to be seen coming down with raging anger and flame of consuming fire, cloudburst and storm, and hailstones.

And Assyria shall fall by a sword, not of man; yea, a sword, not of man, shall devour him. For he shall flee for himself from the sword, and his young men shall become forced labor.

For You have broken the yoke of his burden and the staff of his shoulder, the rod of him pressing, as in the day of Midian.
