those who say to the seers, Do not see; and to those who advise, Do not have a vision for right things to us; speak smooth things to us; have a vision of trifles.
And Ahab said to Elijah, Have you found me, O my enemy? And he said, I have found you, because you have sold yourself to do that which is evil in the eyes of Jehovah.
and say, So says the king, Put this one in the house of restraint, and cause him to eat the bread of oppression, and the water of oppression, until I come in peace.
And Asa was angry with the seer; and he gave him up to the house of stocks. For he was in a rage with him for this. And Asa oppressed some of the people at that time.
And it happened, as he spoke with him, that he said to him, Have we given you as a counselor to the king? Stop yourself! Why should they strike you? And the prophet stopped, and said, I know that God has counseled to destroy you because you have done this, and have not listened to my counsel.
Because you have said, We have cut a covenant with death; and, We have made a vision with Sheol, when the overwhelming scourge passes through it will not come to us, for we have made the lie our refuge, and we have hidden in falsehood.
Woe to those who say to an evil thing, a good thing; and to a good thing, an evil thing; who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; who put a bitter thing for a sweet thing, and a sweet thing for a bitter thing!
Therefore, so says Jehovah concerning the men of Anathoth who seek your life, saying, Do not prophesy in the name of Jehovah, that you do not die by our hand.
Saying they say to those who spurn Me, Jehovah has said, You shall have peace. And they say to everyone who walks in the stubbornness of his own heart, Evil things shall not come on you.
And the priests and the prophets spoke to the rulers, and to all the people, saying, Let a sentence of death be for this man, for he has prophesied against this city, as you have heard with your ears.
And you shall say to Jehoiakim the king of Judah, So says Jehovah, You have burned this roll, saying, Why have you written on it, saying, Coming the king of Babylon shall come and destroy this land, and shall cause man and beast to cease from there?
Therefore the rulers said to the king, Please cause this man to die. For in this way he weakens the hands of the men of war who remain in this city, and the hands of all the people, in speaking these words to them. For this man does not seek the peace of this people, but the evil.
If a man walks with wind, and he lies in deceit, saying, I will drop words to you for wine and fermented liquor, he shall even be one who drops words for this people.
But that it may not be spread abroad further to the people, let us threaten them with a threat that they no longer speak on this name, to no one of men.
saying, Did we not command you by a command that you not teach on this name? And, behold, you have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine and intend to bring on us the blood of this man.
For such ones do not serve our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly, and by smooth speech and fine speeches they deceive the hearts of the ones without guile.
For a time will be when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own lusts, they will heap up to themselves teachers tickling the ear;
