When they sin against You (for there is not a man who does not sin) and You have been angry with them, and have given them up before an enemy, and capturing them they are captured to the land of the enemy, far off or near;
until Jehovah turned away Israel from His face, as He spoke by the hand of all His servants the prophets; and Israel was exiled from off its land to Assyria to this day.
In the ninth year of Hoshea, the king of Assyria captured Samaria, and removed Israel to Assyria, and made them live in Halah, and in Habor, by the river Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes.
And Jehovah said, I will also turn away Judah from My face, as I turned away Israel, and I will reject this city that I have chosen, Jerusalem, and the house of which I have said, My name shall be there.
You also multiplied their sons like the stars of the heavens and brought them into the land which You had promised to their fathers, to go in and possess it.
For though Your people Israel is like the sand of the sea, only a remnant of it shall return, and an end will be decisive, overflowing with righteousness.
Sing, O heavens, for Jehovah has done it. Shout, O lower parts of the earth; burst forth into praise, O mountains. O forest and every tree in it, sing praise, because Jehovah has redeemed Jacob, and He glorifies Himself in Israel.
And your people, all of them, shall be righteous ones; they shall possess the earth forever, a branch of My planting, a work of My hands, to beautify Myself.
You have not multiplied the nation; You have not increased the joy. They rejoice before You as in the joy of harvest, as men shout when they divide the plunder.
And out of them shall go forth thanksgiving and the voice of those who are merry. And I will multiply them, and they shall not be few. I also will honor them, and they shall not be small.
Behold, I will gather them out of all the lands, there where I have driven them in My anger, and in My fury, and in great indignation. And I will bring them back to this place, and I will cause them to live in safety.
A third part of you shall die by the plague and shall be consumed by the famine in your midst. And a third part shall fall by the sword round about you. And a third part I will scatter into every wind, and I will draw out a sword after them.
And they will fall by the mouth of the sword and will be led captive into all the nations. And Jerusalem will be trodden down by nations, until the times of the nations are fulfilled.
Jehovah shall cause you to be stricken before your enemies. You shall go out one way against them, and shall flee seven ways before them. And you shall be a horror to all the kingdoms of the earth.
And Jehovah shall scatter you among all people, from one end of the earth even to the other, and you shall serve other gods there, wood and stone, which you have not known, and not your fathers.
