Behold, let that night be barren; let not joyful voice come in it.

And my lyre has turned to mourning, and My flute vibrates to the sound of weeping.

We hung our lyres on the willows in its midst.

And gladness and joy is gathered up from the fruitful field; and there is no singing and no shouting in the vineyards; the one treading shall not tread out wine in the presses. I have made the shout to cease.

And the lyre and the harp, the timbrel and flute, and wine are at their feasts, but they do not look upon the work of Jehovah; yea, they do see. Therefore My people will go into exile without knowledge, and his men of glory into famine; and his multitude is parched with thirst.

Therefore Sheol has enlarged its appetite, and opened its mouth without measure, and her glory and her multitude, and her uproar, he who exults in her, shall go down in it.

For so says Jehovah of Hosts the God of Israel: Behold, I will cause to cease from this place for your eyes, and in your days, the voice of joy and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride.

And I will cause to perish from them the voice of rejoicing, and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride, the sound of the millstones, and the light of the lamp.

Then I will cause the voice of gladness to cease from the streets of Jerusalem, even the voice of joy, and the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride. For the land shall become a waste.

The elders have ceased from the gate, the young men from their music.

And I will make cease the noise of your songs. And the sound of your harps shall not be heard any more.

You have been in Eden the garden of God. Every precious stone was your covering; the ruby, the topaz, and the carbuncle, the emerald, the sapphire, and the diamond, the jacinth, the agate, and the amethyst, and gold; the workmanship of your tambourines and of your flutes in you. In the day you were created, they were prepared.

I will also cause all her joy to cease, her feast days, her new moons, and her sabbaths, and all her solemn feasts.

Therefore now they shall go into exile with the first of the exiles, and the feast of those spreading out shall cease.

And the sound of harpers, and of musicians, and flutists, and of trumpeters will not still be heard in you, not ever! And every craftsman of every craft will not still be found in you, not ever! And the sound of a mill will not still be heard in you, not ever!
