One goes up to the house, even to Dibon, to the high places, to weep. Moab shall howl over Nebo and over Medeba; on all their heads shall be baldness, every beard cut off.
And Hanun took David’s servants and shaved off half of their beards, and cut off their long robes in the center, to their buttocks; and he sent them away.
And it shall be, when it is seen that Moab shall be wearied on the high place, then he shall come to his sacred place to pray, and he shall not be able.

Wail, O Heshbon, for Ai is devastated! Cry, daughters of Rabbah, gird yourselves with sackcloth; mourn, and run to and fro in the walls. For their king shall go into exile, his priests and his rulers together.
And I will turn your feasts to mourning, and all your songs into a dirge. And I will bring up sackcloth on all loins, and baldness on every head. And I will make it like the mourning for an only son; and the end of it shall be like a day of bitterness.
