And it shall be in that day, the Root of Jesse is it that stands as a banner of peoples; nations shall seek to Him; and His resting place shall be glory.
For He comes up before Him as a shoot, and as a root out of dry ground. He has no form and no majesty that we should see Him, and not an appearance that we should desire Him.
But yet a tenth shall be in it, and it shall return and be burned like the terebinth tree and like the oak that in being felled yet has its stump (the holy seed is its stump).
For a Child is born; to us, a Son is given; and the dominion is on His shoulder; and His name is called Wonderful, Counselor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
There is no end to the increase of His dominion and of peace on the throne of David, and on His kingdom, to order it, and to sustain it with judgment and with righteousness, from now and to eternity. The zeal of Jehovah of Hosts will do this.
Behold, the days come, a statement of Jehovah, that I will raise to David a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and act wisely, and He shall do judgment and righteousness in the earth.
So says the Lord Jehovah: And I will take, even I, of the top of the highest cedar and I will give it; and I will crop off a tender one from the top of its young twigs, and I will plant it on a high and lofty mountain.
And they shall dwell on the land that I have given to my servant, to Jacob, there where your fathers dwelt in it. And they shall dwell on it, they and their sons, and the sons of their sons, forever. And My Servant David shall be a ruler to them forever.
And you, Bethlehem Ephratah, being least among the thousands of Judah, out of you He shall come forth to Me to become One ruling in Israel; and His goings forth have been from aforetime, from the days of eternity.
And speak to him, saying, So says Jehovah of Hosts, saying, Behold! A Man! THE BRANCH is His name ! And He shall spring up out of His place, and He shall build the temple of Jehovah.
And one of the elders said to me, Do not weep. Behold, the Lion being of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, overcame so as to open the scroll, and to loose its seven seals.
And the neighboring women gave him a name, saying, This is a son born to Naomi; and they called his name Obed. He is the father of Jesse, the father of David.
