And after he had numbered the people, the heart of David struck him. And David said to Jehovah, I have sinned greatly in that which I have done. And now, O Jehovah, I pray, take away the iniquity of your servant, for I have acted very foolishly.
And why do You not lift up my transgression, and make my iniquity pass away? For now I shall lie down in the dust, and You shall seek me; but I will not be.
Go and cry these words toward the north, and say, Return, O apostate Israel, a statement of Jehovah. I will not cause My face to fall on you, for I am holy, a statement of Jehovah; I will not keep anger forever.
Let the priests, ministers of Jehovah, weep between the porch and the altar; and let them say, Have pity on Your people, O Jehovah, and do not give Your inheritance to shame, for a proverb among those of the nations. Why should they say among the peoples, Where is their God?
And He answered and spoke to those who stood before Him, saying, Remove the filthy garments from him. And He said to him, See, I have caused your iniquity to pass from you, and I will clothe you with a stately robe.
Therefore, if you, being evil, know to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father, the One in Heaven give good things to those that ask Him?
Then if you being evil know to give good gifts to your children, how much more the Father out of Heaven will give the Holy Spirit to the ones asking Him.
And the tax collector, standing afar off, would not even lift up his eyes to Heaven, but smote on his breast, saying, God, be merciful to me, the sinner!
the One having saved us and having called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace given to us in Christ Jesus before eternal times,
who gave Himself on our behalf, “that He might redeem us from all lawlessness” “and purify” “for Himself a people for Himself for possession,” zealous of good works. Psa. 130:8; Eze. 37:23; Deut. 14:2
But you are “an elect race,” “a royal priesthood,” “a holy nation,” “a people for possession,” so that “you may proclaim the excellencies” of the One who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; LXX-Ex. 23:22; MT-Ex. 19:5, 6
But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of His Son Jesus Christ cleanses us from all sin.
