Ephraim feeds on wind, and follows after the east wind; all the day he multiplies lies and ruin. And they cut a covenant with Assyria, and oil is carried into Egypt.

And, behold, seven ears of grain, being lean and blasted by the east wind, sprouting forth after them.

Pul the king of Assyria came against the land, and Menahem gave a thousand talents of silver to Pul, that his hand might be with him to confirm the kingdom in his hand.

Also, he had made high places in the mountains of Judah, and caused those living in Jerusalem to fornicate, and led astray Judah.

Should a wise man answer with windy knowledge, and fill his belly with the east wind?

Why do you go about so much to change your way? You also shall be ashamed of Egypt, as you were ashamed of Assyria.

Those feeding you shall feed the wind, and those loving you shall go into captivity. Surely then you will be ashamed and will blush for all your evil.

And I will cast you out from My face as I cast out all your brothers, all the seed of Ephraim.

We have given the hand to the Egyptians, to the Assyrian, in order to be satisfied with bread.

And behold, being planted, shall it prosper? Withering shall it not wither when the east wind touches it? It shall wither in the beds where it sprouted.

Ephraim turns around Me with deception, and the house of Israel with deceit; but Judah still rules with God and is faithful with the holy ones.

I will not execute the heat of My anger; I will not return to destroy Ephraim. For I am God, and not a man, the Holy One in your midst. And I will not enter into the city.

Israel, though you fornicate, do not let Judah become guilty. And do not come to Gilgal, and not go up to Beth-aven, and not swear, As Jehovah lives.

The wind binds her up in her wings, and they shall be ashamed because of their sacrifices.

When Ephraim saw his sickness, and Judah his wound, then Ephraim went to Assyria, and sent to King Jareb. And he was not able to heal you, and not did he cure you of your wound.

When I would have healed Israel, then the iniquity of Ephraim was uncovered, and the evil of Samaria. For they have worked falsehood; and a thief comes; a troop of robbers plunders outside.

Ephraim also is like a silly dove without heart; they call to Egypt; they go to Assyria.

For they sow the wind, and they reap the storm wind. A stalk is not to him; the bud shall make no flour. If it does make it, strangers will swallow it up.
