Haggai 1:1

King James 3 - The Literal Traslation

In the second year of Darius the king, in the sixth month, in the first day of the month, the Word of Jehovah came by Haggai the prophet to Zerubbabel, the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah; and to Joshua, the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, saying:

And among the sons of the priests, these were found who had dwelt with foreign women: From the sons of Jeshua the son of Jozadak and his brothers: Maaseiah, and Eliezer, and Jarib, and Gedaliah.

who came with Zerubbabel: Jeshua, Nehemiah, Seraiah, Reelaiah, Mordecai, Bilshan, Mispar, Bigvai, Rehum, Baanah. This is the number of the men of the people of Israel:

And the governor said to them that they should not eat of the most holy things until a priest stood up with Urim and Thummim.

Then Jeshua the son of Jozadak stood up, and his brothers the priests, and Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and his brothers, and built the altar of the God of Israel in order to offer burnt offerings on it, as it is written in the Law of Moses the man of God.

Now in the second year of their coming to the house of God at Jerusalem, in the second month, Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Jeshua the son of Jozadak, and the rest of their brothers the priests, and the Levites, and all they who had come out of the captivity to Jerusalem, began. And they made to stand the Levites from a son of twenty years and over, to oversee the work of the house of Jehovah.

even they came to Zerubbabel and to the head of the fathers and said to them, Let us build with you, for we seek your God, as you. And we have not sacrificed to Him since the days of Esar-haddon king of Assyria, who brought us up here.

Then the work of the house of God which is in Jerusalem stopped. So it ceased until the second year of the reign of Darius king of Persia.

And the prophets, Haggai the prophet, and Zechariah the son of Iddo, prophesied to the Jews who were in Judah and Jerusalem in the name of the God of Israel who was over them.

At that time Tatnai, governor of the province Beyond the River, and Shetharboznai, and their associates, came to them, and said this to them: Who has commanded you to build this house and to complete this wall?

And the elders of the Jews were building. And they were succeeding through the prophesying of Haggai the prophet, and Zechariah the son of Iddo. And they built, and finished, according to the commandment of the God of Israel and according to the command of Cyrus, and Darius, and Artaxerxes the king of Persia.

And these are the priests and the Levites who went up with Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Jeshua: Seraiah, Jeremiah, Ezra,

And Jeshua fathered Joiakim, and Joiakim fathered Eliashib; and Eliashib fathered Joiada;

And from the time that I was chosen to be their governor in the land of Judah, from the twentieth year even to the thirtysecond year of Artaxerxes the king, twelve years, I and my brothers did not eat the bread of the governor.

The ones coming with Zerubbabel: Jeshua, Nehemiah, Azariah, Raamiah, Nahamani, Mordecai, Bilshan, Mispereth, Bigvai, Nehum, Baanah. The number of the men of the people of Israel was:

And Nehemiah the governor, and Ezra the priest, the scribe, and the Levites who made the people to understand, to all the people, This day is holy to Jehovah your God. Do not mourn or weep, For all the people were weeping when they heard the words of the Law.

And he said, O Lord, please send by the hand of him whom You will send.

And Zerubbabel, the son of Shealtiel, and Joshua, the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and all the remnant of the people, obeyed the voice of Jehovah their God, and the words of Haggai the prophet, as Jehovah their God had sent him. And the people feared before Jehovah.

And Jehovah stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel, the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua, the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of the people and they came and did work on the house of Jehovah of Hosts, their God,

in the twenty-fourth day of the sixth month, in the second year of Darius the king.

So speaks Jehovah of Hosts, saying, This people says, The time is not come, the time for the house of Jehovah to be built.

And the Word of Jehovah was by Haggai the prophet, saying,

In the twenty-fourth of the ninth month, in the second year of Darius, the Word of Jehovah came to Haggai the prophet, saying,

And a second time the Word of Jehovah was to Haggai, in the twenty-fourth of the month, saying,

Speak to Zerubbabel, the governor of Judah, saying, I will shake the heavens and the earth.

And now be strong, O Zerubbabel, a statement of Jehovah. And be strong, O Joshua, son of Jehozadak, the high priest. And be strong and work, all people of the land, a statement of Jehovah. For I am with you, a statement of Jehovah of Hosts,

In the eighth month, in the second year of Darius, the Word of Jehovah came to Zechariah, the son of Berechiah, the son of Iddo the prophet, saying,

And he made me see Joshua the high priest standing before the Angel of Jehovah, and Satan standing at his right hand to accuse him.

And if you offer the blind for sacrifice, is it not evil? And if you offer the lame and the sick, is it not evil? Bring it now to your governor. Will he accept you or lift up your face? says Jehovah of Hosts.
