And Jehovah said, I will wipe off man whom I have created from the face of the earth, from man to cattle, to the creeping thing for I am sorry that I made them.
And the angel put forth his hand to Jerusalem, to destroy it. And Jehovah had pity as to the evil, and said to the angel who was destroying among the people, Enough! Now drop your hand. And the angel of Jehovah was near the threshingfloor of Araunah the Jebusite.
And God sent an angel to Jerusalem to destroy it. And as he was destroying, Jehovah saw, and had pity over the evil, and said to the destroying angel, Enough! Now stay your hand. And the angel of Jehovah stood by the threshing-floor of Ornan the Jebusite.
Did Hezekiah, king of Judah and all Judah indeed cause him to die? Did he not fear Jehovah and entreat the face of Jehovah? And did not Jehovah repent of the evil which He had spoken against them? Even we are doing great evil against our souls.
Say to them, As I live, a statement of the Lord Jehovah, I do not have delight in the death of the wicked one, except in the evil one turning from his way, and so to live. Turn back! Turn back from your evil ways! For why will you die, O house of Israel?
How shall I give you up, Ephraim? Shall I deliver you, Israel? How shall I make you like Admah? Shall I set you as Zeboim? My heart has turned within Me; My compassions are kindled together.
And tear your heart, and not your clothes; and turn to Jehovah your God. For He is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and He has pity concerning you.
And God saw their deeds, that they turned back from their evil way. And God was moved to pity of the evil that He had spoken to do to them, and He did not do it.
God is not a man that He should lie, or a son of man that He should repent. Has He said, and shall He not do it? And has He spoken, and shall He not make it good?
For Jehovah will bring His people justice; and He shall have compassion on His servants, for He sees that their power is gone, and only the imprisoned and abandoned remain.
Would that this heart of theirs would be like this always, to fear Me, and to keep all My commandments, that it might be well with them, and with their sons forever.
I repent that I made Saul reign as king, for he has turned back from following Me, and he has not risen to do My words. And Samuel was angry, and he cried to Jehovah all night.
And Samuel did not again see Saul until the day of his death, for Samuel mourned for Saul. And Jehovah repented that He had caused Saul to reign over Israel.
