And Jacob said to his house, and to all those with him, Put away the strange gods in your midst, and purify yourselves, and change your clothing.

For I have known him, so that whatever he may command his sons and his house after him, even they may keep the way of Jehovah, to do righteousness and justice; to the intent that Jehovah may bring on Abraham that which He has spoken of him.

And Laban went to shear his sheep. And Rachel stole the household idols which were her father’s.

And now longing you have gone because you have longed after your father’s house. Why have you stolen my gods?

And Rachel had taken the household idols and put them into the camel’s saddle; and she sat on them. And Laban felt around all the tent, but did not find.

And who is like Your people, like Israel, the one nation in the earth that God went to redeem to be a people for Himself, and to make Himself a name, and to do for You great and fearful things for Your land, before Your people which You redeemed to You from Egypt, from nations and their gods?

And nation by nation was making gods of their own, and putting them in the houses of the high places which the Samaritans had made, nation by nation in their cities where they lived.

And Elisha sent a messenger to him, saying, Go, and you shall wash seven times in the Jordan. And your flesh shall return to you, and you shall be clean.

All gods of the peoples are worthless idols; yea, Jehovah has made the heavens.

And it happened, when the day of feasting had gone around, Job would send and sanctify them. And he would rise early in the morning and offer burnt sacrifices according to all their number. For Job said, It may be that my sons have sinned, and cursed God in their hearts. This Job did all the days.

Multiply to wash me from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.

Purify me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.

And Jehovah said to Moses, Go to the people and sanctify them today and tomorrow. And let them wash their clothes.

And Moses went from the mountain to the people. And he sanctified the people, and they washed their clothes.

And be watchful in all that I have said to you. And you shall not mention another god by name; it shall not be heard from your mouth.

Guard your feet when you go to the house of God, and draw near to hear, more than to give a sacrifice, as do the fools. For they do not know that they are doing an evil thing.

Wash yourselves, purify yourselves. Remove the evil of your doings from before My eyes; cease doing evil.

Turn aside! Turn aside! Go out from there! Touch not the unclean thing! Go out of the middle of her, purify yourselves, those bearing the vessels of Jehovah.

I have seen your adulteries and your neighings, the plot of your adultery, your abominable idols on the hills, in the fields. Woe to you, O Jerusalem! Will you not be made clean? Until when will it be again?

Can a man make gods to himself? But they are not gods!

Why should I pardon you for this? Your sons have forsaken Me and have sworn by No-gods. And I adjured them, and they committed adultery and gathered themselves by troops.at a house of one doing adultery.

Cast away all your transgressions from you by which you have transgressed in them, and make for yourselves a new heart and a new spirit; for why will you die, O house of Israel?

And I said to them, Let each man cast away the abominable idols of his eyes, and do not defile yourselves with the idols of Egypt; I am Jehovah your God.

And I will sprinkle clean waters on you, and you shall be clean. I will cleanse you from all your uncleannesses and from all your idols.

They drank wine and praised the gods of gold, and of silver, and of bronze, of iron, wood, and stone.

And any man who touches his bed shall wash his garments, and shall bathe with water, and shall be unclean until the evening.

And if he does not wash them, nor bathe his flesh, then he shall bear his iniquity.

And you shall wash your clothes on the seventh day, and you shall be clean. And afterwards you shall come into the camp.

And you see and hear that not only Ephesus, but this Paul has persuaded almost all of Asia, perverting a considerable crowd, saying that they are not gods, the ones being made by hands.

Neither be idolaters, even as some of them, as it is written, “The people sat down to eat and drink, and stood up to play.” Ex. 32:6

Therefore having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all defilements of flesh and of spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

But then, indeed, not knowing God, you served as slaves to the ones by nature not being gods.

and a curse if you will not hear the commandments of Jehovah your God, but will turn aside out of the way which I command you today, to go after other gods which you have not known.

With strange gods they moved Him to jealousy; and with disgusting things they provoked Him to anger.

There will not be to you other gods above Me.

You shall not go after other gods, of the gods of the peoples who are around you,

You shall burn the carved images of their gods with fire; and you shall not covet the silver and gold on them, and not shall you take it to yourself, that you not be snared by it; for it is a disgusting thing to Jehovah.

let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, our hearts having been sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our body having been washed in pure water;

Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, sinners! And purify your hearts, double-souled ones!

so as not to go in among these nations, these who are left with you; and that you shall not mention the name of their gods, and you shall not swear, and you shall not serve them, and you shall not bow yourselves to them.

Now, then, fear Jehovah, and serve Him in sincerity and truth, and turn away from the gods which your fathers served Beyond the River, and in Egypt; and you serve Jehovah.

And if it seems evil in your eyes to serve Jehovah, choose for yourselves today whom you will serve, whether the gods whom your fathers served Beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you are living. But as for me and my house, we will serve Jehovah.

And Joshua said to all the people, So says Jehovah the God of Israel, Your fathers have in the past lived Beyond the River (Terah the father of Abraham and father of Nahor) and they served other gods.

When you forsake Jehovah, and shall serve strange gods, then He will turn away and do evil to you, and consume you, after He has done good to you.

And now turn away from the strange gods among you, and incline your heart to Jehovah the God of Israel.

But save others with fear, snatching them out of the fire, hating even the garment having been stained from the flesh.

And they removed the gods of the alien from among them, and served Jehovah. And His soul was shortened with the misery of Israel.

And she said, See, your sister-in-law has turned back to her people, and to her gods. You turn back after your sister-in-law.

And he said, In peace! I have come to sacrifice to Jehovah. Consecrate yourselves and you shall come to me to the sacrifice. And he consecrated Jesse and his sons, and called them to the sacrifice.

And Samuel said to all the house of Israel, saying, If you are returning to Jehovah with all your heart, put aside the gods of the foreigner from among you, and the Ashtaroth. And prepare your heart to Jehovah, and serve Him only, and He will deliver you out of the hand of the Philistines.
