And he commanded them, saying, You shall say to my lord, to Esau: Your servant Jacob says this: I have sojourned with Laban and remained until now.

Hear us, my lord. You are a prince among us. Bury your dead in the best of our burying places. Not a man of us will withhold his burying place from you, from burying your dead.

And Esau said to Jacob, Please let me eat of the red, this red soup, for I am faint. On account of this his name is called Edom.

May the nations serve you and peoples bow to you; be a ruler to your brothers, and may your mother’s sons bow to you, and cursed be those who curse you, and blessed be those who bless you.

And Isaac answered and said to Esau, Behold, I have set him over you as a ruler, and I have given him all his brothers for servants; I have girded him with grain and wine. And what then can I do for you, my son?

Now I have been twenty years in your house; I served you fourteen years for your two daughters and six years for your flock. And you have changed my wages ten times.

Then you will say, Your servant Jacob’s. It is a present sent to my lord, to Esau; and, behold, also he is behind us.

And it is mine to have oxen, and asses, flocks, and slaves and slave-girls. And I have sent to tell my lord, to find favor in your eyes.

Please let my lord go before the face of his servant, and I will move on by stages at my ease, according to the feet of the livestock which are before me, and according to the pace of the boys, until I come into my lord to Seir.

And he said, Whose is all this camp which I met? And he said, To find favor in the eyes of my lord.

And Esau dwelt on Mount Seir. Esau is Edom.

And these were the generations of Esau, the father of Edom on Mount Seir;

If you do well, is there not exaltation? And if you do not do well, sin is crouching at the door; and its desire is toward you; but you should rule over it.

And they girded sackcloth on their loins, and ropes on their heads. And they came in to the king of Israel and said, Your servant Ben-hadad has said, Please let my life live. And he said, Is he yet alive? He is my brother.

And Aaron said, Let not the anger of my lord be hot. You know the people, that it is in evil.

A soft answer turns back wrath, but a word of pain causes anger to go up.

In being at length to anger, a ruler is persuaded; and a soft tongue shatters the bone.

My son, do this then, and save yourself when you come into the palm of your friend: go, humble yourself and be bold to your friend.

If the spirit of the ruler rises up against you, do not leave your place; for a mind of health quiets great sins.

The burden of Dumah: He calls to me out of Seir, Watchman, what of the night? Watchman, what of the night?

For everyone exalting himself will be humbled, and the one humbling himself will be exalted.

O Jehovah, when You went forth out of Seir, when You marched out of the fields of Edom, the earth trembled, and the heavens dropped. Yea, the clouds dropped water.
