On that day Jehovah made a covenant with Abram, saying, I have given this land to your seed, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the river Euphrates,
This heap is a witness, and the pillar is a testimony. As for me, I will not pass over this heap to you; and as for you, you will not pass over this heap and this pillar for evil to me.
Now, then, write this song for you, and teach it to the sons of Israel. Put it in their mouths, so that this song shall be for a witness for Me against the sons of Israel.
And it shall be, when many evils and distresses have found them, this song shall testify against them as a witness. For it shall not be forgotten out of the mouths of their seed. For I know their imagination which they are making today, before I bring them into the land which I have sworn.
Take this book of the Law, and you shall put it at the side of the ark of the covenant of Jehovah your God, so that it may be there for a witness against you.
but it shall be a witness between us and you, and between our generations after us, to do the service of Jehovah before Him with our burnt offerings, and with our sacrifices and with our peace offerings; that your sons may not say to our sons in the future, You have no portion in Jehovah.
