And he said, Is that why his name is called Jacob and has supplanted me these two times? He took me by the heel; he took my birthright and, behold, now he has taken my blessing. And he said, Have you not reserved a blessing for me?
And the sons of Reuben the first-born of Israel (for he was the first-born; but since he defiled his father’s bed, his birthright was given to the sons of Joseph, the son of Israel; and the genealogy is not to be counted according to the birthright;
then it shall be, in the day that he causes his sons to inherit that which is his, he is not able to cause to inherit the first-born son of the one loved before the first-born son of the hated one, who is truly the first-born.
But he shall acknowledge the firstborn, the son of the one hated, by giving him a double portion of all that he has; for he is the firstfruit of his strength, the right of the first-born is his.
