Brothers, I speak according to man, a covenant having been ratified, even among mankind, no one annuls or adds to it.

For God having made promise to Abraham, since He had no greater to swear by, “He swore by Himself,”

For men indeed swear by the greater, and an oath for confirmation is to them the end of all speaking against it.

For a testament is firm over dead ones, since it never has force when the one testating lives.
