Ezra 10:6

King James 3 - The Literal Traslation

And Ezra rose up from before the house of God and went into the room of Johanan the son of Eliashib. And he went there, and he did not eat food, nor did he drink, for he mourned for the perfidy of the exiles.

And while Ezra was praying and making his confession, weeping and casting himself down before the house of God, a very great congregation of men and women and children gathered to him out of Israel. For the people wept with a very great weeping.

And they passed a call throughout Judah and Jerusalem to all the sons of the exile, to assemble at Jerusalem;

And everyone who trembled at the words of the God of Israel were gathered to me, because of the perfidy of the exiles. And I remained stunned until the evening offering.

And Jeshua fathered Joiakim, and Joiakim fathered Eliashib; and Eliashib fathered Joiada;

The Levites in the days of Eliashib, Joiada, and Johanan, and Jaddua, were written heads of the fathers and the priests until the reign of Darius the Persian.

And one of the sons of Joiada, the son of Eliashib the high priest, was son-in-law to Sanballat the Horonite. And I chased him from me.

(and he had prepared for himself a large room and there before they were giving the food offering, the frankincense, and the vessels, and the tithes of the grain, the new wine, and the oil, which was commanded to be given to the Levites, and the singers, and the gatekeepers, and the offerings of the priests).

And Eliashib the high priest rose up with his brothers the priests. And they built the Sheep Gate. They sanctified it and made stand its doors. Even to the Tower of Meah they sanctified it, to the Tower of Hananeel.

After him was zealous Baruch the son of Zabbai and made strong the other section from the corner to the door of the house of Eliashib the high priest.

and I have not departed from the command of His lips; I treasured the words of His mouth more than my portion.

My heart is stricken and dried like grass, so that I forget to eat my bread.

And he was there with Jehovah forty days and forty nights; he did not eat bread and he did not drink water. And He wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant, the Ten Commandments.

And in that day the Lord Jehovah of Hosts called to weeping and mourning; and to baldness, and to girding with sackcloth.

And I set my face toward the Lord God, to seek by prayer and holy desires, with fasting, and sackcloth, and ashes.

And I fell down before Jehovah, as at the first, forty days and forty nights; I ate no bread and drank no water; because of all your sins which you had sinned, in doing that which was evil in the eyes of Jehovah, to make Him angry.
