As for your birth, in the day you were born, your navel was not cut, and you were not washed with water to cleanse you. And you were not salted, and you were not at all swaddled.
And He said to Abram, Knowing you must know that your seed shall be a sojourner in a land not theirs; and they shall serve them. And they shall afflict them four hundred years;
See, O Jehovah, and look! To whom have you done thus? Should women eat their fruit, children of tender care? Should priest and prophet be killed in the holy place of the Lord?
You have called my terrors round about, as in a day of appointed meeting; and there was not a fugitive or a survivor in the day of the anger of Jehovah. Those whom I have nursed and multiplied, my enemy has consumed.
But the house of Israel rebelled against Me in the wilderness. They did not walk in My statutes, and they despised My judgments, which if a man does them even he will live by them. And they greatly profaned My sabbaths. And I said, I will pour out My fury on them in the wilderness, to finish them.
But they rebelled against Me and would not listen to Me. They did not each man cast away the abominable idols of their eyes, and they did not forsake the idols of Egypt. And I said, I will pour out My fury against them, to complete My anger against them in the midst of the land of Egypt.
lest I strip her naked and set her out as in the day that she was born, and make her as the wilderness, and place her like a dry land, and kill her with thirst.
For their mother has prostituted herself; she who conceived them has acted shamefully. For she said, I will go after my lovers who give my bread and my water, my wool and my flax, my oil and my drink.
And you shall remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt, and Jehovah your God redeemed you. On account of this I am commanding you this thing today.
