And he came in to the king. And the king said to him, Micaiah, shall we go to battle to Ramoth-gilead, or shall we leave off? And he said to him, Go up, and prosper, and Jehovah shall give it into the king’s hand.
and say, So says the king, Put this one in the house of restraint, and cause him to eat the bread of oppression, and the water of oppression, until I come in peace.
And the king of Israel gathered the prophets, about four hundred men, and said to them, Shall I go to battle against Ramoth-gilead, or shall I forbear? And they said, Go up, that the Lord may give it into the hand of the king.
And Jehovah said to me, The prophets prophesy lies in My name. I did not send them and I have not commanded them, and not did I speak to them. They are prophesying to you concerning a false vision, and a worthless divination, and the deceit of their heart.
So says Jehovah of Hosts, Do not listen to the words of the prophets who prophesy to you; they make you vain; they speak a vision of their heart, not out of the mouth of Jehovah.
And it happened in that year, in the beginning of the reign of Zedekiah, king of Judah, in the fourth year, in the fifth month, Hananiah the son of Azur the prophet, of Gibeon, spoke to me in the house of Jehovah, for the eyes of the priests and all the people, saying,
Send to all the exiles, saying, So says Jehovah concerning Shemaiah the Nehelamite: Because Shemaiah has prophesied to you, and I did not send him; and he caused you to trust in a lie;
For so says Jehovah of Hosts, the God of Israel: Do not let your prophets who are in your midst deceive you, and ones divining to you. And do not listen to their dreams which you dream.
Your prophets have visioned vanity and foolishness for you; and they have not revealed your iniquity in order to turn back your captivity. Yea, they visioned for you burdens of vanity and seductions.
And it shall be to them an empty divining before their eyes, those who have sworn oaths to them. But he will remember iniquity, that they may be taken.
While they see vain visions for you, while they divine a lie to you, to put you on the necks of the wounded, of the wicked whom their day has come, in the time of iniquity it shall have an end.
And her prophets have daubed themselves with lime, a seer of empty visions, and divining lies to them, saying, So says the Lord Jehovah, when Jehovah has not spoken.
For the family idols speak iniquity, and the divining ones have seen a lie and have told false dreams; they comfort in vain. Therefore they pulled up stakes like a flock; they were afflicted because there was no shepherd.
For speaking great swollen-over words of vanity, by the lusts of the flesh, by unbridled lusts, they allure the ones indeed escaping, the ones walking in error,
