And Jehovah said, Seeing I have seen the affliction of My people who are in Egypt, and I have heard their cry from before their taskmasters; for I know his sorrows.
In all their affliction, He was not a foe; and the Angel of His Presence saved them. In His love and in His pity He redeemed them. And He bore them up, and He lifted them up all the days of old.
And Leah conceived and bore a son. And she called his name Reuben; for she said, Surely Jehovah has looked on my affliction, for now my husband will love me.
For He has not despised and not detested the affliction of the afflicted one; and He has not hidden His face from Him, but when He cried to Him, He heard.

And the Angel of Jehovah said to her, Behold! You are with child and shall bear a son; and you shall call his name Ishmael, because Jehovah has listened to your affliction.
And God heard the voice of the young boy. And the angel of God called to Hagar out of the heavens. And He said to her, What ails you, Hagar? Do not fear, for God has heard the voice of the boy, there where he is.
And He said, Lift up your eyes and see all the rams leaping on the flock; they are striped, speckled and spotted. For I have seen all that Laban is doing to you.
Except the God of my father, the God of Abraham and the Fear of Isaac, had been for me, surely now you would have sent me away empty. God has seen my affliction and the toil of my palm, and last night He judged.
And now, if I have found favor in Your eyes, I pray, make me see Your ways, and let me know You, so that I may find favor in Your eyes, and see that this nation is Your people.
And we cried to Jehovah, and He heard our voice, and sent a messenger, and is bringing us out of Egypt; and, behold, we are in Kadesh, a city on the edge of your border.
Turn back, and you shall say to Hezekiah the leader of My people, So says Jehovah, the God of your father David, I have heard your prayer; I have seen your tears; behold, I will heal you; you shall go up to the house of Jehovah the third day.
