Do not be too much a righteous one, nor make yourself overly wise; why destroy yourself?

And the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that to the eyes it was to be desired, and the tree was desirable to make one wise. And she took of its fruit and ate; and she also gave to her husband with her, and he ate.

For empty-minded man takes heart, and man is born a wild ass’s colt.

And to man He said, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom! And to turn from evil is understanding.

Do not labor to become rich; cease from your own understanding.

But they do all their works to be seen by men. And they make their phylacteries broad and enlarge the borders of their robes.

Then the disciples of John came to Him, saying, Why do we and the Pharisees fast much, and Your disciples do not fast?

I fast twice on the sabbath; I tithe things, as many as I get.

For I testify to them that they have zeal to God, but not according to knowledge.

For I do not want you to be ignorant of this mystery, brothers, so that you may not be wise among yourselves, that hardness in part has happened to Israel until the fulfilling of the nations comes in;

For through the grace having been given to me, I say to every one being among you, not to think too highly beyond what is right to think. But think to be of sound mind, even as God divided a measure of faith to each one.

Let no one deceive himself. If anyone thinks to be a wise one among you in this age, let him become foolish, that he may become a wise one.

And again, “The Lord knows the reasonings of the wise ones, that they are useless.” LXX-Psa. 93:11; MT-Psa. 94:11

according to zeal, persecuting the Assembly; according to righteousness in Law, being blameless.

Let no one rule against you, willing in humility and worship of the angels, intruding into things which he has not seen, being puffed up by the mind of his flesh without cause,

Which things indeed are a matter of having wisdom in self-imposed worship and humility, and severity in abuse of the body, but are not of any honor unto gratification of the flesh.

forbidding to marry, saying to abstain from foods, which God created for partaking with thanksgiving by the believing ones and the ones fully knowing the truth.

And they threw dust on their heads, and cried out, weeping and mourning, saying, Woe! Woe to the great city, by which all the ones having ships in the sea were rich, from her costliness, because in one hour she was laid waste.
