And I have seen that nothing is better than that the man should rejoice in his works; for that is his portion; for who can bring him to see what shall be after him?
Rejoice, O young man, in your youth. And make your heart glad in the days of your youth, and walk in the ways of your heart, and in the sight of your eyes; but know that for all these things God will bring you into judgment.
For who knows what is good for man in this life, the number of the days of his life of vanity? Even he makes them like the shadow. For who can tell a man what shall be after him under the sun?
On the good day, be in good spirit, but also consider in the evil day, that God has made this one along with this one, so that man should not find anything after him.
Then I praised mirth, because nothing is good for man under the sun except to eat and to drink and to be glad. For that shall join with him in his labor for the days of his life which God gives him under the sun.
For man also does not know his time. As the fish that are caught in the evil net, and as the birds that are caught in the trap, like these are the sons of men snared in an evil time, when it falls suddenly on them.
Also their love, their hatred, and their envy has now perished; and not there is a portion for them any more forever in all that is done under the sun.
But you shall eat it before Jehovah your God in the place which Jehovah your God shall choose, you and your son, and your daughter, and your male slave, and your female slave, and the Levite who is within your gates. And you shall rejoice before Jehovah your God in all that you put your hand to.
And you shall eat there before Jehovah your God, and shall rejoice in all that you put your hand to, you and your households, with which Jehovah your God has blessed you.
