And then why should we die? For this great fire will consume us. If we hear the voice of Jehovah your God any more, then we shall die.

And all the people saw the thunders, and the lightnings, and the sound of the rams’horn, and the smoking mountain. And the people looked, and they trembled, and they stood from a distance.

And they said to Moses, You speak with us, and we will hear. And let us not speak with God, that we not die.

For as many as are out of works of Law, these are under a curse. For it is writ- ten, “Accursed is everyone who does not continue in all the things having been written in the book of the Law, to do them.” Deut. 27:26

according to all that you desired of Jehovah your God in Horeb in the day of the assembly, saying, Do not let me hear again the voice of Jehovah my God, nor let me see this great fire any more, lest I die.

And Jehovah said to me, They have spoken well in what they have spoken.

And he said: Jehovah came from Sinai, and rose up from Seir for them; He shone forth from Mount Paran, and He came from the myriads of holy ones. At his right hand a law of fire went forth to them.

and you said, Behold! Jehovah your God has made us see His glory and His greatness to us, and we have heard His voice out of the midst of the fire; we have seen today that God speaks with man, and He lives.

and to a sound of trumpet, and to a voice of words, which the ones hearing begged that not a word be added to them;

for also, “Our God is a consuming fire.” Deut. 4:24
