Deuteronomy 24:1

King James 3 - The Literal Traslation

When a man has taken a wife and married her, and it happens that she finds no favor in his eyes because he has found a thing of nakedness in her, and he writes her a bill of divorce and puts it in her hand, and sends her out of his house;

If he takes another for himself, her flesh, her clothing, and her conjugal right shall not be diminished.

So says Jehovah, Where is the scroll of your mother’s divorce whom I have put away? Or to which of My creditors that I have sold you to him? Behold, you were sold for your iniquities, and your mother was put away for your transgressions.

They say, If a man sends away his wife, and she goes from him and will be for another man, will he return to her again? Would not that land be greatly defiled? But you fornicate with many lovers; yet would you come back to Me, a statement of Jehovah.

And I watched when for all the causes for which the apostate Israel committed adultery, I sent her away and I gave the writ of her divorce to her. Yet her treacherous sister Judah did not fear, but she also went and fornicated.

Jehovah, the God of Israel, says, He hates sending away, and to cover with violence on his garment, says Jehovah of Hosts. Even guard your spirit and do not act deceitfully.

Speak to the sons of Israel, and you shall say to them, When a man, any man’s wife goes astray, and has acted unfaithfully against him,

And if the woman has not been defiled, and is pure, then she shall be clean and shall conceive seed.

But her husband, Joseph, being just, and not willing to make her a public example, he purposed to put her away secretly.

Everyone putting away his wife, and marrying another, commits adultery. And everyone marrying her having been put away from a husband commits adultery.

If a man has two wives, the one loved, and the other hated; and they have borne him sons, both the loved one and the hated one; and if the first-born son was of her who was hated,

If a man takes a wife, and goes in to her, and hates her,

And they shall fine him a hundred pieces of silver, and give them to the girl’s father, because he has brought an evil name on a virgin of Israel. And she shall be his wife; he may not put her away all his days.

then the man lying with her shall give to the girl’s father fifty pieces of silver, and she shall be his wife, because he has humbled her. He may not send her away all his days.

and if she goes out from his house and goes and becomes another man’s wife,

and the latter husband hates her, and writes her a bill of divorce, and puts it in her hand, and sends her out of his house or if the latter husband who took her to be his wife dies;
